Surf Craft: A Caribbean Benefit Event
On October 15, Temme Media partnered with Changing Tides Foundation, Waves for Water and Juxtapoz to present Surf Craft: a benefit auction to support those affected by the hurricanes in Puerto Rico and the U.S Virgin Islands.
Spread across a beautiful space within the Mana Contemporary in Jersey City were 16 unique artist-designed, hand painted surfboards - all of which are available for online auction via Paddle 8. For the lovers of art, surfing and good deeds, taking home one of these beautiful boards would be the trifecta. The bidding will remain open until October 30, 5pm ET and all proceeds will directly to supporting the smaller islands and communities where attention and relief efforts have been scarce so far.
Between checking out the all-star line up of artist's work, event attendees were transported by Temme Media from the exhibition space to the glassy walls of perfect waves with a selection of 360 degree surf films. Temme Founder Sybil Steele talks about the ways 360 film can take your breath away. "There is something magical about people's reactions to their first immersive experience, the way their face lights up when they discover there's more than what's right in front of them," she said. "It also highlights the importance of exposing people to positive experiences and content in the future, especially young girls."
Temme Media also invited people to design and create their very own surfboard - in Virtual Reality. Using Tilt Brush on the HTC Vive, users could step into Virtual Reality and design, experiment and create not only a surfboard but an entire world of their own - their only limitation was their own imagination.
